Who I Teach
Whatever your age, whatever your background — if music is calling you back, or calling you for the first time, this is a good place to answer it.
Adult returners
You played once. Maybe for years. And now, for whatever reason, you find yourself thinking — I fancy giving that another go. On my terms this time.
Maybe there's a song you've always loved and you're wondering whether there's enough still there to play it yourself. Maybe you just miss having music in your life in that particular, active way. Maybe you're not entirely sure why — you just know the pull is there.
That's more than enough to start with.
Adult returners often carry a fear of judgement, or a lack of confidence in their own abilities — a worry that they've left it too late, or that the ceiling they hit the first time round is still there waiting for them. In most cases, it isn't. And this time, you're in charge of where you want to go.
No pressure, no deadlines, just music.
Failed a grade years ago and assumed that was that. Gave up because the music felt wrong. Picked up the instrument again and put it back down. Life got in the way. It happens to most of us.
You choose what you want to play. You set the pace. There are no exams unless you want them. The only goal is to enjoy making music.
Complete beginners
If you've never played but have always wanted to — this is a perfectly good place to start. You don't need any prior knowledge, any particular ability, or any grand ambitions. Just curiosity, and a willingness to give it a go.
Learning as an adult is different from learning as a child — and in some ways it's easier. Adults bring enthusiasm, motivation and passion to music. That counts for a great deal.
And if you've always felt the pull of music — that's just as valid a place to start as anywhere.
From the very beginning — but in a way that makes musical sense from day one. You'll be playing and listening and understanding, not just drilling notes.
To make real progress, yes — you'll need something to practise on between lessons. A decent digital piano doesn't have to be expensive, and it makes all the difference.
Younger learners
While Sairfeet Music's particular focus is on adult learners, younger students are warmly welcome too. If you're a parent wondering whether this might be right for your child, please do get in touch — I'm happy to have a conversation about how I can help develop your child's musical talents.
Lessons at Sairfeet Music aren't about running through grades. They're about building a genuine musical understanding — and that works just as well for younger learners as it does for adults.
One thing all students have in common
Whatever your age, whatever your background, lessons at Sairfeet Music are built around you as an individual. The aim isn't just to teach you to play — it's to help you discover what music means to you.
